PKU and Your Health

Adults with PKU often wonder how their overall general health may be different than someone without PKU. For example, people want to know if PKU affects the normal aging process and if they should be on alert for specific things when managing their general health and seeing their general doctor.

There are many health issues that are common to everyone as we age. These can include things like weight gain, diabetes, high blood pressure, osteoporosis and menopause for women. Many adults and teens are especially concerned with maintaining a healthy weight and bone health. These issues are explored more here.
